Registration Is Open for Spring and Summer Art Camps at the AMA
Registration is underway for spring break and summer art camps at the Albany Museum of Art. Director of Education and Public Programming Annie Van Oteghem said demand is already strong for many of the camps that are still a few months away.
“We had parents calling in late January about especially popular summer camps, like Kid Artrepreneurs,” Van Oteghem said. “They wanted to make sure they didn’t schedule a trip or activity that would conflict with the dates. We’re also more than half-full on our spring break art camp, which is the week of March 30 through April 3.”
She noted that most camps sell out early. “I wouldn’t wait too long to register,” Van Oteghem said. “Plus, we have early-bird discount pricing through April 1, so the earlier you register, the more you save in stress and cost.”
Information, including registration links, can be found for Spring Break Camp HERE and for each of the nine Summer Camps HERE.
“Those pages on our website also have links for applications for scholarships, which are funded by donations made each year at Art Ball during the Wayne & Alicia Gregory Family Foundation Paddle Raise,” Van Oteghem said. “We also have a link for people who would like to volunteer to help with a camp, including students who want to earn volunteer hours.”
A list of camps follows, with dates, hours, ages, camp theme, a brief description of the camp, and the cost to attend.

This hands-on camp is a crash course in fashion design with a twist: printmaking, fabric manipulation, and boundary-pushing creativity.
Throughout the week, campers tackle exciting, unconventional challenges inspired by real-world fashion, exploring pattern, form, and function while mastering techniques like fabric painting, weaving, dyeing, block printing, and screen printing. There’s no “right” way to design here—just ideas, experimentation, and fearless self-expression.

Each project challenges students to push beyond realism, exploring style, abstraction, and personal voice, all while gaining hands-on experience with professional art techniques.
By the end of the week, participants will have a portfolio of striking portraits and sculptures that capture the human face in all its complexity and creativity.
Cost: $230 ($210 for AMA donors)
An American Alliance of Museums-accredited institution, the Albany Museum of Art takes its role in bringing the experience of art to young visitors seriously, Van Oteghem said. While at the museum, campers will see works by artists from across the United States, as well as pieces from the AMA’s permanent collection.
“Our camps offer students of all ages a range of experiences they can’t get anywhere else in our area,” Van Oteghem said. “They get to spend time in our galleries to view work by accomplished artists, they learn how to express themselves creatively and positively, and they make friends who share their interests. We have top-quality instructors for each camp, and we work to make their experience one they will always be happy to remember.”
