After School Art Club

September through May

Middle & High Schoolers | Last Mondays | 4-6 PM
Elementary Schoolers | Last Tuesdays |3:30-5 PM

A new season of After School Art Club opens in September 2022 and continues through May 2023. For the 2022-23 school year, the monthly club meetings have been divided into two age groups: middle and high school students on the last Monday of the month, and elementary school students on the last Tuesday of the month.

“In both clubs, the courses will begin with a focus on building fundamental drawing skills,” Albany Museum of Art Director of Education and Public Programming Annie Vanoteghem said. “Our students will be taught basic techniques, such as shading, controlling tones, composition, and drawing methods. Then, they will learn how to recreate an image on paper using pencils, charcoal, chalk pastels, and oil pastels.”

Special scheduling note: The March and May 2023 club meetings will be a week earlier than normal because of spring break and Memorial Day.

Monday club meetings for middle and high school students are Sept 26, Oct 17, Nov 28, Jan 30, Feb 27, March 20, April 24, and May 22.

Tuesday club meetings for elementary students are Sept 27, Oct 18, Nov 29, Jan 31, Feb 28, March 21, April 25, and May 23.

COST: Each session is $15, or sign up for all eight sessions for $120. AMA members get a 20% discount ($12, individual sessions; $96, all eight sessions), and a family with more than one child attending the same session receives a 10% discount.
