ABOUT THE BOOK CLUB
The bimonthly club meets at 5:30 pm in the Willson Auditorium at the Albany Museum of Art. The meetings are free and open to everyone. There is no formal membership, just a love for art, books, and good conversation.
Registration is free for everyone and helps us ensure adequate seating is ready when you arrive. You may also contact AMA Director of Education and Public Programming Annie Van Oteghem by calling 229.439.8400.
In Get the Picture, award-winning journalist Bianca Bosker writes about years of intensive research and immersive reporting in an art world with which she becomes obsessed. She became fixated on understanding why art matters and how she could engage in it more deeply.
Along the years-long journey exploring everything from cave paintings to photo-based social media, Bosker stretched canvases, talked her way into parties with billionaire art collectors, had a performance artist sit on her face, and stared at artworks for hours while working as a museum security guard. Get the Picture presents a comprehensive view of art, from a billion-dollar industry to a celebration of its ability to expand people’s existence.
