PRISMATIC PAINTING WORKSHOP
with Melissa Huang
Saturday, March 12, 2022 | 2:30-4 PM

Join exhibiting artist Melissa Huang for the Prismatic Painting Workshop 2-4 pm on Saturday, March 12 at the Albany Museum of Art.
Discover new techniques and discuss with Huang the inspiration for her work. Her exhibition Prismatic is currently showing in the AMA's East Gallery through April 23.
Each participant will create a multi-color self-portrait in this painting workshop for painters at all skill levels. Bring a selfie printed on letter size paper in black and white (or a photo can be taken at the workshop and printed out). Then use color gel sheets to alter and edit your black-and-white image, creating a colorful reference image to paint in acrylic.
This workshop is appropriate for artists with skill levels from beginner to advanced, as well as those who have never touched a paintbrush but are looking for inspiration.
Huang, of Statesboro, Ga., is an interdisciplinary artist who explores the multiplicity of identity in her paintings and prints. Her glitch-inspired painting and video self-portraiture studies the desire, failure, and dissonance associated with portraying an idealized self for a largely digital audience. An assistant professor in 2D Foundations at Georgia Southern University, she notes that the way a person is perceived and presents to others changes from person to person.
COST: $25 for AMA members, $30 for future members.
