Happy Friday friends!

Landscapes
came to be when artists decided to not focus on people, but instead focus on the different scenes created by nature! Trees, bushes and grass are all things that help make up a landscape, along with the sky and any buildings or smaller objects. Sometimes landscapes include lakes or oceans as well!

Let’s Talk About Landscapes!

Claud Lorrain was a famous Landscape painter.

Picture
Lorrain painted many landscapes during his lifetime. His work is still studied by artists today. Lorrain's artwork is dreamy and made to be beautiful. He used nature and sunsets, and even mythology to make his work stand out. The colors make us feel warm and calm, just like we are right inside the painting!

Mythology is stories from different cultures that have been passed down over time. A good example of mythology is the story of Hercules, a super-strong man whose mother was human and whose father was a Greek god named Zeus.

In this painting, Lorrain uses purple, orange and blue in the sky to let you know that the sun is setting. This helps us understand what time of day it is. He does not put the focus on the people in the corner. They are just part of the landscape!

Let’s make Landscape Art!

In this video you can learn even more about landscapes. At the end you will be able to follow along and do a fun project at home.

Here is what you will need!

1. Construction Paper
2. Liquid Glue
3. Scissors
4. The help of a parent or guardian

Thank you for learning with us today!
Come back on Monday!
