The Albany Museum of Art is open to the public

The Albany Museum of Art is open and following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines to minimize the adverse health impact of COVID-19.

OPERATING HOURS
  • 10 am-5 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
  • 10 am-7 pm on Thursdays

AMA IS AGAIN OPEN TO THE PUBLIC ON SATURDAYS

The Albany Museum of Art has returned to regular Saturday hours of 10 am to 5 pm. Tuesday-Friday hours will remain the same.

AMA CHALKFEST RETURNS NOV. 13 AS A LIVE STREET ART FESTIVAL

AMA ChalkFest will again be a live event in downtown Albany on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021.

ART BALL 2021 LOOKS 'INSIDE THE BOX' TO CELEBRATE THE ARTS SAFELY DURING THE COVID PANDEMIC

The AMA Art Ball will not be the traditional black-tie-optional dinner, dance and auction this year. Organizers have created a special event that will take place on the evening of Saturday, March 13.

Art Ball 2021 will feature a group of private dinner parties and a new way to bring Art Ball into your home--Art Ball in a Box.

FEBRUARY AND MARCH TODDLER TAKEOVER AND HOMESCHOOL DAY PROGRAMS WILL BE ONLINE

Two popular AMA monthly programs for kids -- Toddler Takeover and Homeschool Day -- will be conducted online in February and March.

Programs will be posted online at 10 am on Feb 2 and March 2 for Toddler Takeover, and Feb 11 and March 11 for Homeschool Day. AMA officials plan to return to in-person programs beginning April 6 if health guidance allows.

JANUARY AND FEBRUARY 2021 PROGRAMS AND EVENTS RESCHEDULED FOR LATER DATES

Because of the post-holidays spike in COVID-19 cases in the Albany area, events and programs scheduled for January and February have been moved to later dates.

The museum remains open to the public during its normal business hours.

CHALKFEST IS MOVING ONLINE

The 3rd annual AMA ChalkFest, the museum's fall chalk art and craft beer festival, has been changed from a live street festival in downtown Albany to a virtual festival that will be conducted online.

Things we are doing at the AMA

  • AMA Art Lovers Book Club Meeting is in person again at the museum at 6 pm on March 16, 2021.
  • Toddler Takeover on first Tuesdays at 10:30 am has paused for the summer. It resumes for a new season on Sept. 7, 2021.
  • Homeschool Day on second Thursdays at 11 am has paused for the summer. It resumes Sept. 9, 2021.
  • Recreate a masterpiece with our Life Imitating Art challenge.

GUIDELINES FOR OUR VISITORS

To ensure the safety of museum guests, members and staff, the Albany Museum of Art is asking all visitors to follow these guidelines:
  • Please follow current CDC and Georgia health officials' guidelines on masks.
  • ​By entering the building, guests are confirming they have no symptoms and have not encountered anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the previous 14 days.
  • Guests are asked to allow at least six feet of space for anyone in the museum who is not in their party.
  • No cash sales will be conducted at the museum. Memberships, rentals and any other transactions will be conducted only with credit or debit cards.
  • Guests are asked to use hand sanitizer at the museum as needed.
  • Occupancy of the museum will comply with federal, state and local recommendations.
  • Changes to visitation policies may occur if federal, state or local guidance changes.​
