Eight High School and College Essayists Recognized in Art-Inspired Writing Contest

​Eight high school and college students were recognized for their winning essays in the 8th annual A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words competition at the Albany Museum of Art.
 
Clara Lee, a Georgia Southwestern State University student, won the $250 first-place award in the College Division for her essay Changing for the Better. Taking top honor in the High School Division was Westover High School student Jaria Ware for her essay Ethiopia: A Second Utopia.

Albany Museum of Art Fall Art Festival Is Saturday, Nov 19 in Downtown Albany

Glassblowing will be the hot new thing at Albany Museum of Art ChalkFest on Saturday, Nov 19, 2022, in downtown Albany.
 
Art students from Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus will demonstrate their glassblowing skills as they form glass art objects by inflating molten glass into a bubble with the aid of a blowpipe. The glassblowing demonstration area is the latest art addition to the 5th annual festival. Presented by Publix, AMA ChalkFest will be 10 am-5 pm on South Front Street and at Veterans Park Amphitheatre. Admission is free for everyone.
