​Outdoor Event Will Feature the Use of a Steamroller in Printmaking

Family Day will steamroll its way back at the Albany Museum of Art on Saturday, July 24 with a bigger-than-life printmaking experience.
 
Sponsored by Smile Doctors and conducted in partnership with the Albany Recreation & Parks Department, Big Print Family Day is a free event that will feature Andrew College Associate Professor of Art Chris Johnson and his students using a steamroller to print images using a 3-foot-by-4-foot woodblock of a turtle.

AMA receives grant from Georgia Council for the Arts

"The Annunciation," an oil on wood panel painting by Girolamo de Santa Croce in the 1540s-1550, is one of the paintings that will be in the European Splendors exhibition from Aug 26 until Dec 25, 2021 at the Albany Museum of Art. During the course of the exhibition, college professors will discuss the Renaissance and Baroque artworks in a series of public lectures at the AMA. The Georgia Council for the Arts has awarded the AMA a $2,725 grant to fund the lecture series. The Albany Museum of Art has been awarded a grant by Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA), a division of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, as part of its initial disbursement of grants for fiscal year 2022.

​The $2,725 Education Program Grant will help fund a series of public lectures by college professors this fall on European Splendors, an exhibition of Renaissance and Baroque paintings organized by the Columbia Museum of Art, South Carolina, with support from the Samuel H. Kress Foundation, New York. The exhibition opens at the Albany Museum of Art on Aug 26 and continues through Dec 25.

"Horse Power," works by Cedric Smith, and "Essay Topic: Write Down the Word WOMAN One Hundred Times!," new works by Sanaz Haghani, open Saturday, July 10 at the Albany Museum of Art.
Two new exhibitions debut Saturday at the Albany Museum of Art. Horse Power, an exhibition of oil paintings by Macon artist Cedric Smith, opens in the East Gallery. Essay Topic: Write Down the Word WOMAN One Hundred Times!, new works by Athens artist Sanaz Haghani, opens in the McCormack Gallery. Both exhibitions will continue through Christmas.
