[June 18, 2021 – Albany, GA] ─ Anna Plowden, a rising-senior at Westover High School, has been named president of the Albany Museum of Art Teen Art Board for the 2021-22 school year.
 
Plowden succeeds former AMA Teen Art Board President Sarah Katherine Harris, who graduated from Deerfield-Windsor School in May.

AMA Book Club to Discuss Novel on Georgia O'Keeffe

[June 15, 2021 – Albany, GA] ─ Members of the AMA Art Lovers Book Club will have Georgia on their minds at their next meeting. But this Georgia is famous American artist Georgia O’Keeffe, not the Peach State.
 
The club will explore the best-selling Georgia: A Novel of Georgia O'Keeffe by Dawn Tripp at its meeting set for 6 pm on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 in the Willson Auditorium at the Albany Museum of Art, 311 Meadowlark Drive. There is no formal membership to join the discussion and no cost to participate. The meeting will be facilitated by AMA staff member Deandrea “Dee” Moore.

[June 11, 2021 – Albany, GA] ─ Visitors to the Albany Museum of Art will be able to see the creative process in action this summer. Artist Michael Mallard, who has become the AMA’s first artist-in-residence, is utilizing the Hodges Gallery as his studio for the next several months.

“We are delighted that Michael Mallard is kicking off this program for us,” AMA Executive Director Andrew J. Wulf, Ph.D., said. “As a South Georgia native, he is an asset to the museum and to this community.”

“It’s something I’ve never done before,” Mallard said. “I’m thankful for the opportunity.”

Albany Museum of Art Now Open on Saturdays

June 9, 2021 – Albany, GA ─ The Albany Museum of Art will be open to the public 10 am-5 pm on Saturdays beginning June 12, 2021, Executive Director Andrew J. Wulf, Ph.D., announced today.
 
“We are pleased to announce that we are resuming Saturday hours beginning this Saturday, June 12,” Wulf said. “This will give more families the opportunity to come out and enjoy our fabulous art exhibitions, and for children to visit our activity center, AMAzing Space. We will be adding new activities to that area in the coming weeks, so there will be fun, new ways for our youngest visitors to engage themselves.”
