VISUAL VERBAL JOURNAL WORKSHOPS
NEW DATES
Fridays | April 16 & 23 | 5:30-7:30 PM

Why do artists keep visual journals? Is it a way to brainstorm? Is it a way to generate ideas?
Noelle Petersen, art teacher at Deerfield-Windsor School, will instruct a pair of workshops on Visual Verbal Journals from 5:30-7:30 pm on two consecutive Fridays, April 16 and 23, 2021. Petersen will guide you on keeping a visual verbal journal that can be used for brainstorming, generating ideas, research, exploration, reflection, and as an idea bank for the future.
The visual imagery can support the text, or the text can support the visual imagery. It’s all in the hands of the journalist. Journals are a great place to experiment, try new media, and venture out of your comfort zone and perhaps just play.
Each participant should bring a journal. Any materials can be used, and the AMA will have many on hand, such as watercolors, tempera, scissors, pencils, pens, color pencils, charcoal, markers, tissue, glue, tape, construction paper, old magazines and others. Participants also are welcome to bring any materials they want to use.
COST: Each session is $15 for AMA members or $20 for future members.
To register, email Annie Vanoteghem HERE or call her at 229.439.8400.
