Masterworks from the International Guild of Realism
Haley Gallery, February 6 - June 11, 2016
Masterworks from the International Guild of Realism is a new initiative to recognize achievement in realism. The exhibition consists of about 70 artworks by 65 artists selected by a jury-of-peers.
Contemporary realism emerged in America in the late 1960s and early 1970s as a movement concerned with the straightforward realistic approach to representation which continues to be widely practiced in this post-abstract era and is different than photorealism, which is somewhat exaggerated, ironic and conceptual in nature.
