The Albany Museum of Art offers a fun and educational family outing and opportunities to explore our six galleries with art from around the world and is home to AMAzing Space, an interactive children’s gallery for kids of all ages. Check our these cool programs designed with your kids in mind!

Visiting the Museum with your Children
  • For Parents - A visit to the museum should be a positive experience that encourages your child to want to visit the art museum again and again. We have some tips to minimize the fuss and maximize the fun of your museum-going experience.
  • For Teachers The AMA offers a variety of programs and resources for educators. Here you can find information about our School Tours and On-line Educational Resources.  You can also download forms to book your tour, our comprehensive Teacher’s Guide and gain access our African Art Wikipedia-style website.

AMAzing Space
This interactive children’s gallery holds 14 hands-on educational activities related to the Museum’s art collection. This space serves to reinforce concepts and skills taught in the classroom by teachers of all disciplines and is available for field trips, parents and students year-round with FREE admission.

Touch a Truck
Come see all the larger than life trucks, cool cards and specialty equipment during November in 2017. More details will come closer to time.

AMAzing Birthday Parties
The Albany Museum of Art offers Birthday Party Packages for up to 20 children, ages 3-10 years old, customized to each age group. Your child will love their party, complete with party facilitator, art activity, use of AMA's classroom and AMAzing Space for 2 hours and much more. Choose from three packages.

Art Camps and Workshops
Each summer, the AMA hosts six week-long art camps for elementary age school children. During Christmas break, winter workshops are available for students. We also offer a Spring Break Camp. All sessions are taught by professional art educators and lessons and activities complement the Georgia curriculum and performance standards. ​

After School Art Academy
From 3:30 - 5 pm, every Tuesday grades 3 - 5 and every Thursday grades 6 - 8, can come to the AMA for some after school art instruction. They will explore art history, studio art techniques and have time to explore our current exhibitions. A variety of media will be taught using age appropriate methods.

Toddler Tuesdays
Join us every Tuesday of the each month from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. for story time and looking activities in the galleries. Toddler Tuesday is a great opportunity for toddlers and parents to explore and create! This is for children that are 5 years and younger. One adult is required for every 2 children.
