How do I schedule a school program or tour?
Please contact our Museum Services Coordinator,
Yvonne Jones at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (229) 439-8400.
What is the cost of the school tours or programs?
Most of our tour programs are free. This includes all students, teachers, and chaperones. However, we do accept donations. There are some tours that include art projects, for which we charge a small fee.
What time do school programs take place?
Most programs start promptly at 10:00 a.m., 11:15 a.m., and 1:00 p.m. and last approximately 55 minutes. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled program to check in.
Do I need to schedule my field trip if I don’t want to book a tour and/or program?
Yes. Self-guided visits for school groups are scheduled Tuesdays through Fridays and require advance scheduling to ensure availability of gallery space.
How many chaperones do I need?
Chaperones are encouraged and welcomed for all school visits, but we require one chaperone for every eight students for self-guided visits. Chaperones must stay with their groups at all times, including stops at the restrooms, and are responsible for the group’s behavior while visiting the museum. The museum staff is not responsible for monitoring the behavior of students. If a staff member must intervene, the museum reserves the right to ask the entire group to leave the museum.
Will I receive written information about my tour?
Yes. We will e-mail written confirmation regarding your tour and/or program. Field trip guidelines will be sent to you prior to your visit as well. Please call if you do not receive this information.
Are lunch facilities available?
The AMA has no indoor eating facilities.School groups are invited to eat lunch on the picnic tables located on the south lawn of the museum. Food and beverages are not permitted inside the museum; all lunches must be stored on the bus.
Are there any special instructions I should know before my field trip?
