The AMA Contemporaries kicked off 2018-19 season of events in style on July 26, proving art is not some old, dusty thing with no relevance to today’s life.
The Albany Museum of Art’s new Contemporaries, area professionals ages 21-45, are young art enthusiasts who represent the next generation of leadership for the Museum. They inspire their friends and colleagues to engage with the arts and champion the AMA as a space for courageous conversations to shape a more aware and connected world. This is about connecting a young audience with each other – and having fun.
The AMA Contemporaries first event Bar Fight: An Evening of Masterfully Mixed Cocktails Inspired By Famous Works of Art was a smashing success, bringing together the most talented bartenders from the Albany area for a top shelf cause. Joel White of Manor House Pub, Jessica Carter of the Sandtrap Club 5.0 and Alison McCorkle Cleland of the Oglethorpe Lounge demonstrated their creative craft cocktail making skills and competed drink for drink.
In the end, Joel White "unified the belt," creating Albany's signature cocktail of the summer. His Con Cuidado took both the judges' award and the People's Choice Award.
It was the event of the summer in Albany! If you missed it, don't missed our next event on Oct. 25!
This is the first of four events planned for the 2018-19 season as the group showcases art-related events and programs geared to the interests of young professionals. More details to follow.
