FEEL THE THUNDER BY ADELAIDE SATTERFIELD ART

Adelaide Satterfield, Feel the Thunder, 2020, acrylic and mixed media on canvas, 36 in. x 36 in.

"As much as I hate hot weather, there is nothing like the ominous clouds gathering in the sky and the thunder booming down on the cotton fields. The air gets so still, like it's holding its breath in prayer for the rains to come. And most of the time it never appears. But for a few moments, that thunder makes you think it's ushering in some desperately needed rain and relief from the thick, heavy heat.

"This reminds me of how small I am and that I am not in control. All the power and all the money in the world cannot make rain come. The thunder is God's voice saying, 'I am in control.'"
